August 1st, 2021 we got an email from a jazz enthusiast alerting us that we had been featured on Jazz Northwest, hosted by Jim Wilke, Sundays at 2 pm. The show opens with a great local big band and is followed by the Jazz Misfits. Jim played the title track to our new CD, A Spot of Blue. He mentions all band members names and says some nice things about the group. Check out the podcast: https://www.knkx.org/post/jazz-northwest-august-1
On July 26th the Jazz Misfits broadcast a live performance The Jazz Misfits LIVE: On the Salish Sea from the deck of a private residence on Puget Sound. After a technical glitch at the 22 minute mark, the show was restored and the band then played for another hour. It was a fun experience and lessons were learned so the Misfits look forward to the next virtual show. Band members included Brent Irwin on trumpet, Jeff Chang on alto sax, Clif Swiggett on trombone, Nelda Swiggett on piano, John Giuliani on bass and Glenn Thilman on drums. In June 2020 we sent a copy of the new CD to Darrell Brogdon, the host of The Retro Cocktail Hour with a short note stating that one of our tracks might qualify as Exotica, Space-age Pop or one of the many weird, crazy and cool styles of music he features on the weekly program. We just happened to check out one of the more recent shows and to our surprise, there it was on the list of that week's broadcast: Bangkok at Night by The Jazz Misfits, featuring our very own Clif Swiggett on trombone! Check it out to see what he said about us. It's the October 12th edition, #835 and here is the link: http://www.retrococktail.org/listen.html
